The requires institutions of higher education to establish programs that address unlawful possession, use, or distribution of alcohol and illicit drugs, and foster safe and drug-free learning environments which promote academic achievement.
2024 Annual Notice to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Students and Employees
DFSCA Requirements
In accordance with the DFSCA, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ conducts a Biennial Review of its participation
to determine program effectiveness and consistency of policy enforcement and to identify
and implement any changes needed to either. Each Biennial Review is conducted by the
end of every even-numbered calendar year.
In accordance with the DFSCA, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ informs each student and employee annually
through Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ email about the following information related to the use of alcohol
and illegal drugs and abuse of any and all drugs (whether legal or illegal):
1. Standards of conduct;
2. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's sanctions for a violation(s) of the alcohol and drug provisions, as defined in the Student Code of Conduct located in the current Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Student Handbook and Employee Standards of Conduct located in Board policy ;
3. Legal sanctions under local, state, and federal laws;
4. Health risks associated with alcohol and substance use and abuse; and
5. Substance abuse counseling, treatment, and prevention programs available to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ College students and employees.

In an effort to fulfill the requirements of the DFSCA, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Counseling
Services Office coordinates Know Now. The purpose of Know Now is to educate Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ
College students about issues related to substance use and abuse, empower students
to make positive choices for their futures, and encourage utilization of campus and
community resources for recovery.
